Philosophy
The Faculty of Nursing believes that graduate education of nursing science would provide the opportunity for advanced nursing study in the preparation of nursing experts on specialty clinical areas, nursing investigators, nursing leaders and change agent in development of the nursing profession. In graduate education, competencies of inquiry, critical thinking, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, nursing therapeutics, cultural and ethics competency should be developed. Teaching and learning methods should emphasize on self directed learning, life-long learning, inquiry relevant to practice and education as well as administration, critical thinking development, experiences in formulating nursing therapeutics, testing of nursing knowledge and related fields to advance nursing science, and team works. Students should be encouraged to create their learning methods to meet their own objectives and fulfill their initiatives, improve communication and advanced technology use skills, and network with international colleagues.
Objectives
Upon completion of the master of nursing science program, graduates will be able to:
1. Critically demonstrate advanced knowledge and theories from nursing and other disciplines for their contribution to specialized nursing practice of individuals, families or communities.
2. Apply nursing knowledge, related theory, and research findings in a specific area of nursing practice, education, and administration.
3. Perform effectively the ability to identify a researchable problem relevant to nursing and health care and conduct research in a focal area of nursing to contribute to nursing science.
4. Analyze and synthesize the research findings prior to utilizing the research findings to advance nursing practice and health care system.
5. Perform proficiently the leader role in health care system management, nursing educator, or private practice.
6. Demonstrate and utilize leadership abilities to advance the profession of nursing.
7. Demonstrate competence in development of inquiry relevant to practice and education or administration, and create academic work or nursing innovation.
