History

The Faculty of Nursing (FON), Burapha University was first established with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education on June 8th, 1982 as a part of Bangsaen Campus, Srinakarinwirot University. By the Burapha University Act which was promulgated on July 30th, 1990, Bangsaen Campus was granted the status of a government university operating under the name of ‘Burapha University’. The FON thus became the first faculty of Burapha University. In 2007 Burapha University changed status from a government university to an autonomous public university under supervision of the Royal Thai Government by the University Act.

The FON first offered an undergraduate nursing program in the academic year of 1983. Our masters program commenced in 1995 and since 2005 we run a successful doctoral program.

Buildings

The Faculty comprises of 6 buildings, covering an area of over 23,000 square meters. The main Faculty of Nursing (FON) Building has a capacity of 6,000 square meters distributed over six floors. It was a great honor when Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak officially opened the building on December 12,1986. In general, the west side of the building provides office space for academics of all departments while the east side is composed of 8 lecture rooms for undergraduate students, and 3 classrooms for postgraduate students.

The faculty’s teaching facilities also include an extensive Learning Resource Centre (His Majesty the King’s 6-Cycle Birthday Anniversary Building), as well as further teaching space at the Anurak Building.

Our students have the use of two dormitories; one is situated on the university’s main campus and a second dormitory at Chachoensao Hospital. Finally, the Students Union Building, provides students with a place to meet other nursing students, both Thai and international students.
