Philosophy

    The Faculty of Nursing believes that graduate education of nursing science would provide the opportunity for advanced nursing study in the preparation of nursing experts on specialty clinical areas, nursing investigators, nursing leaders and change agent in development of the nursing profession. In graduate education, competencies of inquiry, critical thinking, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, nursing therapeutics, cultural and ethics competency should be developed. Teaching and learning methods should emphasize on self directed learning, life-long learning, inquiry relevant to practice and education as well as administration, critical thinking development, experiences in formulating nursing therapeutics, testing of nursing knowledge and related fields to advance nursing science, and team works. Students should be encouraged to create their learning methods to meet their own objectives and fulfill their initiatives, improve communication and advanced technology use skills, and network with international colleagues.

Objectives of the Curriculum

Upon completion of the Master of Nursing Science Program (Internatinal Program), the graduates will be able to:

1. Acquire advanced knowledge and skills in nursing science and other related science involved nursing practice.

2. Integrate knowledge of nursing science and other related fields, and scientific evidence as a basis for advanced nursing practice to improve the quality of nursing care.

3. Provide nursing care with expertise, moral, ethics, and cultural sentitive care.

4. Conduct research and utilize research results to improve nursing practice or solve problems in health care.

5. Serve as a changing agent in nursing practice, be responsible in the pursuit of self- improvement and assume accountability for the ongoing acquisition of knowledge and skills in the profession.

6. Communicate and work collaboratively in the interdisciplinary health care team including devlope a networking nationally and internationally.

This program admits both Thai and international students who possess qualificaitons as specified in the curriculum.

Qualifications of the Intakes

1. In accordance with university qualifications on graduate education.

2. Hold a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent and have a professional license in Nursing and midwifery. For non-Thai national, the applicants must completed the Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent as well as holding nursing profession license which was approved by professional nursing council or the responsible organization or certified by the Nursing Regulatory Authority in the applicant's country.

3. Possess nurse experience at least one year until the date of application.

4. The results of English proficiency test with a minimum 500 on TOEFL or IELTS score of at least 5.5 or equivalent in other forms and approved by Burapha University.

5. In the case that the qualification is not in accordance with 2.2.1 to 2.2.4, admission is at the discretion of the curriculum board.

Criteria for Graduating According the Curriculum

- Completed all courses stated in the curriculum

- Obtain a GPA of at least 3.0 (From scale of 4)

- Present a thesis and pass the oral examination; the oral thesis examination must be considered an “open” session

- Publish the thesis in a journal or publication with the standard set by the university or present the thesis at a national conference which has a peer-review system and issue a proceeding which publishes the full paper.

- Obtain English language proficiency based upon a passing score in accordance with Burapha University’s regulation

Remark

• The payment of the tuition and service fees must be in Thai Baht.

• The payment will be varied based on the exchange rate.

• Students need to prepare extra money for conducting their master thesis.

• Students who are unable to complete the degree program within 2 years
(4 regular semesters) are required to pay the additional fees to maintain their status (Approximately 6,000 Thai Baht).

• Dormitory fee is about 2,500 - 8,000 Baht; the cost depends on: type of the room, how far from University/how many persons stay in each room.
